In Loving Memory
In Loving Memory
Robert (Bob) was blessed to spend 75 years with an extensive family and he was fortunate to experience living throughout the country at various points in his life.
Robert's parents, Charles Mitchell and Edith Stickney were married in Maplewood, NJ in 1944, and moved back and forth between Madison, WI and Maplewood, NJ during World War II to fulfill Charles military's responsibilities as an Army glider pilot. Roberts two older siblings Linda and David were born in New Jersey and Wisconsin respectively, before Charles and Edith gave birth to their third child Robert in New Jersey in 1947. The family of five eventually ended up in Illinois in 1951 to allow Charles to begin his post service career at Western Electric in Cicero, IL. The family moved several more times in the western suburbs of Chicago until settling in Downers Grove in 1961. During that time Roberts family grew to eight to include three more siblings Alan, Phillip, and Mary.
Robert attended Downer's Grove North Highschool, which is where he met his wife Kathleen Ove in the summer of 1964. They both graduated with their respective classes and were married in 1967. Later that year, they gave birth to their son Robert. Two years later Robert and Kathy went their separate ways, and in 1970, Robert followed his brother David, with his brother Alan, to Hunting Beach California. In 1976 Robert returned back to Camp Douglas to be with his parents during their retirement. Robert lived with his friends and family in the Camp Douglas area from 1976 to 2023. His final years were spent at the Greenbriar Independent Living Center in Baraboo, WI.
